ABOUT ME:

I have been sewing since I was 8 years old and was making tailored garments by the time I was 12. Around that time I saved up enough money to purchase my first “buckskin jacket”. You know – the kind with the long fringes on the sleeves, around the bottom and across the back. I remember going over to a friend's house (wearing my jacket, of course) and he had just learned how to “tool” leather at Scout camp. I spent many hours at his house learning the basics of tooling, but that's about as far as it got – after all, I was just a kid and time marches on.

When I was older and had a more reliable source of income, I made a lot of my own clothes and bought tooled leather belts, leather bags and leather garments. I had fun embellishing those leather items to make them “my own”.

A few years ago I decided to get serious with leathercrafting. I began investigating and discovered there just wasn't a lot of readily-available information in my smallish town, so I turned to the internet. I am fortunate to have found a fantastic community of leathercrafters of all sorts from all over the globe – people from absolute beginners to folks who write books on the subject. They are a source of inspiration and instruction to me (and yeah, a twinge of jealousy too). I wouldn't have been able to do what I do without support from my regular family AND my leathercrafting family.
